How to find the best florist in Bath/Bristol (or frankly anywhere)

Dahlia table arrangement for wedding flowers Bath & Bristol
The best wedding florist is the one who fits your needs and who will positively add to your day. We all have different floral design styles, we all price our arrangements differently, and we all have different values that drive our businesses. It’s your job to find the wedding florist that is best for YOU based on want you want
— Sarah

There is no '“best” anywhere in the wedding world, whether we are talking about wedding photographers, wedding venues, wedding cakes, wedding bands or wedding caterers. Simply different styles, with different price points, and different people are attracted to us all for different reasons

To find the '‘best florist” for you, I advise you consider the below criteria:

  1. The ‘Best Florist’ will create designs that you love

The first stage of hunting down a wedding florist is finding one with a style that you LOVE, I know this sounds obvious, but your florist is dressing your most important day. For example, at Golden Valley Meadow, our style is ‘wild meadow’; we use a lot of billowy, romantic flowers such as dahlias, peonies, ranunculus, and natural textures such as seedheads and grasses. Other florists have a tighter, rounder style, others a more modern vibe, or nods to a more bohemian feel, using a lot pampas grasses and dried flowers. There is no right or wrong, simply have a look on Instagram, and through a florists website, review how they work, and whether you fit

2. The ‘Best Florist’ will be within your budget

Wedding suppliers should be upfront about their pricing, it takes a lot of energy and administrative effort to organise a wedding, you need your suppliers to be clear on the costs, so that can both decide whether you are a good fit from the start. Ask for a detailed breakdown, ensure that transport and labour costs are stated, and there are no hidden costs.

At Golden Valley Meadow we offer three tiers of wedding flowers, with different price points:

3. The ‘Best Florist’ will match your values

What is the mission of your florist, and does it reflect your values, or what you are looking to bring to life on your wedding day?

Many couples come to us because they want a natural, meadow gathered, countryside, aesthetic using sustainably grown flowers or they have seen our work at Glastonbury Festival and want to recreate a festival feel. Many of our couples love visiting the flower field, the experience of

Environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation is not going to drive most wedding florist businesses, but there are topics that they (and you!) are passionate about. Find out the brand values of your florist nd see how it speaks to you and your vision for your wedding day

4. The ‘Best Florist’ will be a joyful part of our wedding

Again, it seems like a very obvious statement, but it is so important that you like the person who is making your arrangements. I always want to have a good connection with my Brides and Grooms. After all, I will be with you on one of the most important day of your life; handing over the bouquet to the bride on the wedding morning, helping grooms pin buttonholes, delivering DIY Buckets, being surrounded by the electric excitement of a wedding is the absolute highlight of my job. I’m often on-site moving arrangements from ceremony to reception, and adding flower crowns for an evening party look. If your florist is going to be onsite during your wedding, even discreetly in the background, ask yourself this: Would I invite this person to my wedding as a guest, would I be friends with them?
